    Please ensure you provide:

    • Evidence of teacher registration, or if you are currently studying, evidence of enrolment in an accredited initial teacher education course.
    • Copies of your final academic transcripts (preferably certified) and any additional qualifications completed.

    • Permanent and temporary classroom teacher applicants 

    • Applicants must provide:

      • A maximum three-page statement demonstrating how your experience aligns with the seven Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (AITSL Standards). Refer to the Applicant Pack for guidance.
      • If applying as an international teacher, evidence of your AITSL Skills Assessment and/or IELTS assessment.
      • Details of two teaching referees from the past five years, including at least one current or former supervisor.
      • Academic transcripts (certified copies preferred).

      Permanent Classroom Teacher Transfers
      The annual process for permanent Classroom Teachers to transfer between schools is the Annual Classroom Teacher Transfer Round. Further information is available on the Education Staff ConnectED portal.

      Note: Graduating pre-service teachers who have not yet received their final academic transcript should apply through the Pre-service Teacher Pathway Program.

    • Casual classroom teacher applicants 

    • Applicants must provide:

      • A statement of up to two pages addressing the Casual Teacher Selection Criteria.
      • At least one completed Referee Report (two preferred), including one from your current or most recent supervisor.
      • Academic transcripts (certified copies preferred).

      Please note:

      • Referee reports may be completed by employers from education or other industries.
      • Selection may be based on the application and referee report(s) only.
      • All required documents are available in the Casual Teacher Advertisement on the Jobs ACT website.
    • Pre-service Teacher Program applicants 

    • Applicants must provide:

      • A statement of up to two pages explaining how your practicum experience demonstrates progress against the seven Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (AITSL Standards). Refer to the Applicant Pack for guidance.
      • Two assessment reports from your most recent practicum placements.

  • The Pre-service Teacher Program is an employment-based pathway for students in the final stages of an Initial Teacher Education (ITE) qualification.

    Students from the following universities may be eligible to teach on a Restricted Permit to Teach once minimum course requirements are met:

    • Australian Catholic University
    • Charles Sturt University
    • Charles Darwin University
    • Swinburne University
    • University of Canberra

    Pre-service teachers enrolled at any Australian university may be eligible for an Unrestricted Permit to Teach once course requirements are met. Contact your university for further information.
